Kayaking on the Avon
Downtown Christchurch on the Avon we rented kayaks for an hour and then walked through the Botanical Gardens.
Snow capped southern alps of Kaukoura
We met friends for lunch and then drove the 2 hours to see one of Cathys favorite view in new Zealand.

Christchurch botanical garden
Arrived in Christchurch
Got to Christchurch with just a little sunshine left. Beautiful weather everywhere ... Middle 50s.
We got our first 'are we there yet' 5 minutes before getting there. Not bad for traveling 11500 miles and 5 flights.

We are tired, but everyone is doing well. Hate the Qantas baggage 'weighers'. Made us check one of the bags even though it was small and we had carried on 4 other flights.

Flight 3 of 5
Got lucky and we are flying on Emirates...a very nice airline. All freshly showered and the kid haven't even begun playing with most of the toys they packed. We will need to connect AKL CHC. 23 actual hours in the air will be the most flying we will do continously this year.

Had a long layover so we came into the city for a few hours. Got to run.

Got tired of waiting for our trip so we came up to Mackinac island on Sunday. Apparently all the GOP candidates were here yesterday. Stunning weather.
As you may know Macinac Island does not allow cars and is where 'Somewhere it Time' was filmed. It roughly at the intersection of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
